Local artist mixes abstract painting, musical improv

Causey’s exhibit is called “She Said Shred.” Most of her work is acrylic, with a few oil paintings mixed in. Causey works out of her home in Broad Ripple in a “teeny-tiny, closet-sized” studio. She said she sometimes works on two or three paintings at a time and constructs abstract paintings inspired by her teaching styles.

Heorot presents attic show with Bonesetters, Everthus the Deadbeats

The Heorot will host an upstairs attic show this weekend with former and present local bands hitting the second floor stage. Both headlining bands, The Bonesetters and Everthus the Deadbeats, have seen recent line-up changes, which have seemed to fare well amongst their fans.

Artist vs. Poet sounds exactly like Something Corporate without the piano. “Favorite Fix” is their debut album. The band could be considered the female version of Paramore, and their album was produced by Paramore’s album producer, Mike Green.

“The Miracle Worker” recalls classic success story

The play is an ambitious story to tell, and the Civic Theatre adaptation has its flaws. However, the story is compelling due to the strong performances, unique set design and thorough direction by Robby Tompkins.
