Lynn Nottage’s award-winning play “Intimate Apparel” will debut at Strother Theatre tonight at 7:30 p.m. Junior acting major Ashley Harrison will play, Esther, the lead character. Esther is an African American seamstress looking for love. The play takes place in New York City in 1905. “Intimate Apparel” touches on several different ideas including relationships, religion, race and class. The show will be directed by Dwandra Lampkin. Tickets are $8.50 for the general public and $6.50 for students.

Muncie musicians, skaters, fans and business owners will come together Sunday to support Haiti relief efforts. The Haiti Relief Show is from 1 to 10 p.m. at Solutions Ramp Park in Muncie. The show will give attendees an opportunity to help the victims of the Haiti earthquake.

Joanna Newsom, “Have One On Me”
“Have One On Me” is the third album from vocalist and harpist Joanna Newsom. Newsom gained popularity with her song “Peach, Plum, Pear,” an eloquent and well-crafted track that pierces with originality from Newsom’s harp playing and unique voice.

It may be a few months late, but Loretta Lynn will grace the stage of the John R. Emens Auditorium on Friday.
Last November, Lynn had to cancel her visit to Muncie due to the flu, and she resumed her tour in late January. Lynn’s Muncie show is the third stop for the famous country singer in her 20-stop 2010 tour.

On Feb. 20, Muncie’s Walnut Street was supposed to be filled with music, costumes and laughter. Now the only thing downtown Muncie will have on its sidewalks this weekend are piles of snow.
Organizers postponed the city’s annual Muncie Gras on Tuesday due to reports of more snow showers. The celebration – which attracted more than 5,000 people last year, said Cheryl Crowder, program manager for Downtown Development – was moved to March 20. Crowder said activities that have been advertised for this year’s Muncie Gras will still take place …
