Downtown Muncie has many things to celebrate. The downtown nightlife has expanded considerably in the last few years. The school year is almost over and summer is about to begin. Downtown Development decided this weekend was the perfect time to introduce the first-ever Downtown Pub Crawl for Millions.

Doc’s Music Hall kicks off the weekend tonight with three different bands. Red Moon, Twin Cats and Midwest Hype will take the stage starting at 10 p.m. Red Moon, from Indianapolis, mixes rock, reggae and pop. Following the band will be another popular Indianapolis band, Twin Cats, who promise a set of “face melting funk.” Headliner for the evening will be reggae, hip hop, and jazz band, Midwest Hype. The cover charge is $5.

“Angels in America Part 1: Millennium Approaches” is one of the plays being performed next year and will feature faculty members such as Wendy Mortimer, Drew Vidal and Rodger Smith. The play will be directed by Jennifer Blackmer.

Minnetrista will end its 20th annual Juried Art Show & Sale on Sunday after nearly three months. The art show began on Feb. 22, allowing artists from all over East Central Indiana to submit their work.

Orff wrote “Carmina Burana” in Germany during the 1930s. He wanted to create a musical experience that would represent the basics of the human experience. He used the the ancient concept of the Wheel of Fortune to tell the musical story in a cyclical way. The show begins and ends with the piece “O Fortuna.”

Downtown Muncie is going back to high school. Last weekend, the Muncie Civic Theatre premiered its adaptation of the popular Disney Channel movie “High School Musical” to “awesome” attendance, said director Marty Grubbs.

A romantic comedy starring Jennifer Lopez is so nine years ago. Sorry, J-Lo. “The Losers” seems promising, if only because Morgan proved in 2008’s “Watchmen” that he plays the wise-cracking action hero perfectly.

A live jazz performance, an experimental psychedelic band and a live disc jockey will be all take the stage Saturday evening at The Silo. The performances will begin at 8 p.m. with Live Jazz Tonight, a local jazz band. Live Jazz Tonight features covers of John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk and Charlie Parker
